The 3–5 Writing Series will begin by focusing on strategies to help students understand the features of a writing rubric and articulate their understanding. Participants will explore “crafting” lessons that build writers, readers, and thinkers by emphasizing the importance of revising writing (thinking on paper) and demonstrating to students what they are capable of as writers, as readers, and as creative thinkers. Participants will also look at quick writes, writing workshops, how to set up notebooks, and other topics. All modeling uses the workshop combination of reading and writing, and time to debrief and extend thinking are built into the sessions. While the series is most impactful when information from both sessions is combined, each session is also individually beneficial for professional learning.

Cost: $275 per session

All sessions (unless otherwise noted) are six-hour sessions (8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.).
