Virginia Avina is a district literacy liaison with the Academic Foundation Initiatives at IPSI. She supports the El Paso Independent School District with the implementation of the Texas Literacy Initiative. She provides technical assistance and support to elementary campuses in the area of literacy instruction, leadership, and professional development. Previously, Virginia was a reading technical assistant with the Reading First Initiative and supported campuses in El Paso, as well as provided technical support and training to various districts across Texas. She was a state trainer for Tejas LEE, TPRI, and the Texas Adolescent Literacy Academies.
Virginia earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The University of Texas at El Paso and has over 20 years of experience in education.
